The story line coming into tonight’s game, the Great Danes were coming into the game undefeated with a thrilling win over Buffalo in overtime and convincing wins over Holy Cross and Rhode Island. The concern for many is how would they fare against St Francis that on paper looks like an easy win, but was not at all. For most of the game, three quarters St Francis gave UAlbany all they could handle, as they lead going into the 9-3, but as the fourth quarter began, the Danes took over. In the fourth quarter the momentum changed as Crockett connected with Sussamn to take a 10-9 lead and then on the next drive starting running back Dione Alston broke free for a 54 yard run increasing the lead 17-9. As Albany kicked to put the game out of reach 20-9, the nail in the coffin was the interception thrown in the end zone by St Francis quarterback Drayer. After the game Coach Gattuso expressed concern, even though admitting that St Francis played them tough and showed that’s the new St Francis, he still felt like they could have done a lot of thiongs better. When asked was there any concerns in keeping the team grounded during the bye week, coach stated that he is not worried at all, they know how good Richmond record and national rank is and they will be ready for them after the bye week. Only time will tell, stay tuned!
