Leading up to this game if you looked at both teams record (as a basketball fan) you would think “trap game”. We have all seen sports team’s play down to there competition, and get shocked on game day.
During the post game presser the student athletes spoke on paying attention to detail, and not overlooking anyone despite their record.
“I think we wanted to focus in on our defense. No matter anyone’s record we still have to attack every game like it’s a championship game.” – UAlbany Guard Kayla Cooper

Key Takeaways
Lets start with the defense from UAlbany WBB. This team is starting to show flashes of the defense they played when they won the American East. The entire team locked in defensively. Senior Guard Abby Ray left in immediate off the bench. Fighting through screens, and causing deflection. Gabriela Falcao would provide quality minutes defensively having two big blocks.
Another key take away from this game was bench production. Let’s put down the stat sheet for a second. In any contact sport it’s a luxury to have a healthy team that can contribute especially in conference play. A key to the Great Danes success has been there depth. It’s hard for opposing coaches to game plan around Cooper, Donovan, Phillips, etc. Because of many hidden variables. Will Meghan Huerter come off the bench and catch fire from 3.
