Unfinished Business
Quote of the day: Bill Laimbeer “I think players need to learn to what got them there last year and don’t settle for thinking you’re a great team, a lot of things went right for us last year ans a lot of things have to go right for us this year, I think we have to pay attention to detail”
The storyline coming into media day was the Liberty were back to complete some unfinished business. Last season after making some questionable unpopular decisions like trading Cappie Pondexter for Ephipany Prince and trading Anna Cruz for draft picks, the Liberty shocked everybody by making it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Although coming up short, coach Laimbeer did not disappoint in making even more unpopular changes as the season begins. Last season when the Liberty seemed to be having a slow night or were digging a deep hole, they had there bench players/veterans to bail them out, but now this season they do not have the depth they had before, Essence Carson went to the West coast to join the L.A. Sparks, Candice Wiggins retired, Ephiphany Prince is suspended for the first few games and Swin Cash was released to make room for Amanda Zahui B. To help fill the void for those individuals the Liberty brought in Shoni Schimmel, who seems to not be in playing shape and former first round number one pick Lindsay Harding. Although they were good pickups, there is still some question on whether they can fill the void of the the players that left or have been traded, only time will tell.
