Connecticut Sun Coach Stephanie White

Game Review – To start the game the Lynx got off to a fast start with a 12-4 lead. What led to them dominating in the period was their 63 percent shooting to Connecticut 35. Also Collier’s play. In which she led the team with nine points to end the period.

Collier play led to PG Courtney Williams getting open opportunities, and scoring. Williams was second in scoring with eight points in the quarter. To start the second quarter Connecticut had made adjustments. Within the first three minutes of the game they cut the nine point lead to one (23-22). A key factor to the game turning around for the Sun was Brionna Jones.

Brionna Jones not only led the team with nine points but she was playing well on the defensive end. Midway of the second period the Sun had taken the lead 33-26. Holding the Lynx to only three points forcing them to take a timeout. By half time the Lynx were only trailing by two 37-35.

The third quarter the Sun big three shined bright. Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones, and Dewanna Bonner combined for 36 points. As the fourth quarter continued both teams continued to give each other it’s best punch. Kayla Mcbride, and Alana Smith hitting key shots during this period. Slightly swinging the momentum in favor of the Lynx. When Connecticut sent help to stop Collier from scoring it opened up lanes for other players to score, leading to the Lynx getting a 67-63 lead. To end a roller coaster quarter Collier hit a layup in the paint. Finishing with 28 points for the period, and forcing the game into the overtime.

When overtime started the Lynx seemed to get off to a fast start. They took advantage of all the attention that Collier had warranted ,and started to attack the middle of the paint. Giving them a 79-74 lead. Connecticut did not go away easy. They fought back, and pulled it out in the end. A key defensive stop from Dijonai Carrington would keep the Sun undefeated. Carrington making McBride miss the jump shot that would have help them secure the win.
