Game Recap
Going into week three both Rhode Island, and Campbell were coming in with a lot of energy. Campbell was coming in off a big win over ranked Western Carolina 24-16. It was their first win of the season. Rhode Island on the other hand were coming into the game looking to rebound from the tough loss they suffered to Big Ten opponent Minnesota 48-0. As expected, when both teams took the field both defenses, and offenses were playing hard. It seemed as if it was going to be a back-and-forth battle where one mistake could decide the game. One of those mistakes were midway through the first period where quarterback Chad Mascoe fumbled, and linebacker AJ Pena recovered at 31 yard line.

This play would result in the Rams taking over. On this possession Devin Farrell ran a two-minute drill no huddle drive down the field. The drive ended with a nine yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Greg Gaines. Giving the Rams a seven point lead (7-0). After the score defense continued to hold up as they ended Campbell drives in punts.
What was most impressive about the Rams defense was not only their ability to hold Campbell to field goals, but the way they did to end the first half/second quarter. Campbell attempted to run it in the end zone from the two-yard line and were stopped all four times.

So instead of Campbell kicking the field goal, which would have cut the lead to one, Campbell found themselves going into halftime with just one field goal (7-3). This decision would come back to hurt them in the second half.
Once the second half started Rhode Island picked up where they left off at. For the Rams first drive of the second half they ran the no huddle offense, and succeeded. The Rams went 77 yards in two minutes and thirteen seconds. Finishing the drive with 27-yard touchdown run from quarterback Devin Farrell.

This score would put the rams up by eleven 14-3. The Rams continued to run a no huddle offense with success. This time quarterback Devin Farrell threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Marquis Buchanan to put the Rams up 21-3.

The defense did not disappoint, and led the charge. Shutting Campbell out the whole third quarter. Holding them scoreless and ending all their drives in punts.
Even with Campbells lack of offense, for most of the game they still never gave up. At midway through the fourth quarter they put together a 13 play 86 yard drive. Which would result in a Mike Brown completing an eight yard touchdown pass to Sincere Brown.
The Rams defense held it down for the remainder of the game as they stopped Campbell on their next drive sealing the victory.
