Game Recap: Coming into the sweet sixteen tournament Oregon State versus Notre Dame. Notre Dame was coming into this tournament red hot. The Irish had not lost a game since February 15. Notre Dame was coming out of a tough tournament bracket. Where they gained victories over Kent St, and Ole Miss.

From the outside looking in, Notre Dame was favored to win this game. Oregon state had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. For the first seven minutes of the game the fighting Irish held on to a slime lead(10-8). The reason being was Timea Gardiner. Who had her finger prints all over the game. Gardiner scored six of the Beavers first eight points.

Timea play would become an issue for Notre Dame for most of the game. Her stellar play opened up opportunities for her teammate as well. Raegan Beers, who after the first timeout, had scored eight points. Helping the Beavers end the period with a 17-15 lead.

Starting the second period Oregon kept their foot on the gas. Cruising to a 25-22 lead midway through the second period. The Beavers were red hot shooting 80% from FG. On the other side of the court. Notre Dame was shooting 38%. The Fighting Irish played stellar defense but could not capitalize off of their opportunities. Oregon State remained in control for the rest of the half. With Beer, and Timea combining for 21 points.

Oregon st picked up where they left off for the second half. They got off to an 11-2 run. Forcing the Fighting Irish to call a timeout, and regroup as they trailed by ten (43-33). After the timeout Notre Dame would respond by cutting Oregon’s lead down to three (53-50). Both Citron and Westbeld both had seventeen each to end the period.

The fourth period remained close until the last minute. Oregon would close out the Irish and punch there ticket to the Elite 8.
