You are who you are and right now were small, sometime we make shots and sometimes we don’t, we’ve had games where we shot over 50% and games where we are4-28, it is what it is, so we just have to keep plugging away at it.” Cornell head Coach Brian Earl

Great Danes

The story line coming into the game against Cornell, was this was Albany’s first home game and first game of the year for that matter. As the game began, Albany did not miss a beat, they came out playing aggressive and were also taking advantage of Cornell missed 3 point shots. A lot of Cornell 3 point shots that there taking and missing we recreating fast break points, which led to from starting off as a four point lead, ended up becoming a 19 point lead in the first half and ending the half down by 8 (34-26). As big as the lead got, Cornell did not go down without a fight, there were a few runs that they made, keeping the game within range, only being down by 8 at the beginning of the second half (49-41). Then getting closer around the 5:51 mark, cutting the lead down by6 and eventually to 3 at the 4:41 mark. Albany coach Will Brown stuck with his players and the defensive scheme they were playing and did not call a timeout until the 3:02mark, with the Cornell just within 4 from tying the game. Once they came back on the floor Albany regained the momentum and never look back and held on to the lead and victory (69-59). Now with out of conference play not being as big a factor anymore,Albany is now going to have to focus on playing tough like this in there conference and make a run to qualify for the tournament, will they be able to is the question, only time will tell stay tuned!
