Jersey Shore Rallies to Beat Brooklyn Cyclones 10–8

Jersey Shore Rallies to Beat Brooklyn Cyclones 10–8

A late-inning surge and clutch hitting power Jersey Shore out of last place in a wild Saturday showdown.

Coming into Saturday’s game, the Jersey Shore BlueClaws were dead last, having dropped three of their last four games. But when you’ve got nothing to lose, sometimes you play your best baseball.

BlueClaws 2

Facing a red-hot Brooklyn Cyclones squad that had won nine of their last ten, the BlueClaws flipped the script in dramatic fashion—capitalizing on late-game mistakes and delivering key hits when it mattered most to claim a 10–8 win.

Fast Start for the BlueClaws

Jersey Shore came out swinging, led by Bryan Rincon, who set the tone early. After drawing a walk, Rincon stole both second and third base. Matt Higgins brought him home with a single to right, and Kehden Hettiger followed up with a triple that scored Higgins. Just like that, the BlueClaws were up 2–0.

In the third, they added another run via a sacrifice fly from Pierce Bennett, extending the lead to 3–0.

Brooklyn Responds, Mercado Goes Deep

But Brooklyn didn’t stay quiet for long. In the fourth inning, Suero and Baro got on base, setting the stage for Estarling Mercado, who crushed a three-run homer to tie the game 3–3.

That swing shifted momentum, and when Carson Benge drove in another run in the fifth, followed by Mercado’s two-run single later in the inning, the Cyclones looked poised to take control with a 6–3 lead.

Chenault Silences the Cyclones

BlueClaws coach Greg Brodzinski made a key decision by bringing in reliever Ethan Chenault to start the bottom of the fifth. It paid off. Chenault shut down Brooklyn through two innings, buying Jersey Shore the breathing room they needed.

Meanwhile, Cyclones reliever Noah Hall, who had helped contain the early damage, was asked to go a bit too far into the game—and the BlueClaws made him pay in the sixth.

Sixth-Inning Explosion

Eli Prado sparked the rally with a single, followed by a walk to Jordan Dissin. A perfectly placed bunt from Zach Arnold brought home a run, and from there, the floodgates opened.

Carson Demartini’s triple tied the game at 6–6. Then, Eduardo Lopez delivered the dagger—a two-run homer to put Jersey Shore on top, 8–6. That blast not only stunned the Cyclones but marked a momentum shift that Brooklyn wouldn’t recover from.

Closing It Out

After Chenault’s strong performance, Andrew Baker took the mound and kept the Cyclones off the board for another 1.2 innings. Prado capped off his night with an RBI single in the ninth, sealing the 10–8 victory.

What This Means

For the Cyclones, it’s a frustrating loss. They remain in second place, two games behind Greensboro, and while their offense continues to impress, late-inning pitching decisions hurt them here.

For Jersey Shore, this was more than just a win—it was a statement. By splitting the doubleheader the next day, they climbed out of last place. Eduardo Lopez summed it up after the game: “This is just the beginning. There’s no quit in this team.”
